TACTIX adds depth to its team: Dan Duguay appointed Managing Principal

Following an exceptional career with the Government of Canada and fresh from one of the world’s most trusted media and information organizations, Dan Duguay has joined Tactix Government Relations and Public Affairs in Ottawa as Managing Principal.

“Dan’s depth of knowledge and experience in the public sector is rare to find in combination with his business acumen and strategic insight,” said Alan Young, Principal at Tactix. “We are delighted to welcome him and look forward to introducing Dan’s valued experience and evidence-based decision-making models to Tactix’ current and future clients.”

Mr. Duguay served most recently with Thomson Reuters Special Services in a newly-created role as senior director of business development, focused on serving decision makers in the Canadian public sector. His public service career began as Manager of the Climate Change Action Plan (2000) with Natural Resources Canada. He then moved to become Director, Acquisitions Branch, Public Works and Government Services; Senior Director of Industry Canada’s Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB) Policy; Executive Vice President, Communications Research Center; and then Director General, Industry Canada in the Spectrum, IT and Telecommunications Sector. Prior to joining the Government of Canada, Dan was Senior Engineering Manager for Nortel’s optical manufacturing facility in Kanata, as well as an entrepreneur in three high tech start-ups.

“As part of our ongoing strategic planning for the firm, in addition to adding Dan to the team, Alan and I are simplifying the organization and eliminating our co-president positions to become Principals,” said Howard Mains. “We will continue in our day-to-day management roles with the Tactix team and with our clients, while Dan will draw on his leadership experience in both government and corporate settings to focus on client strategy and business growth.”

Dan Duguay has lectured on business and technology subjects, as well as provided guidance to Carleton University’s Institute for Data Sciences. He has a Masters in Chemical Engineering from McGill in Medical Nanotechnology and furthered his academic career as a PhD candidate in Chemical and Biomaterials Engineering, at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Dan is also a certified professional coach. Dan, his wife Nicole, two busy kids and new puppy live in the Woodpark neighbourhood in Ottawa.
